POSITION TITLE General Manager – Sales Team
POSITION SUMMARY
A global logistics company is seeking a dynamic General Manager to lead its Japan-focused sales team based in Chicago. This role will focus on strengthening relationships with existing clients—primarily large Japanese corporations—and driving new business development. The position requires strong leadership, operational coordination, and strategic thinking.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Manage sales activities for existing clients (approx. 80%), including key accounts in the automotive and technology sectors
Develop new customer relationships and expand sales opportunities (approx. 10%)
Collaborate with branch operations staff to support sales initiatives (approx. 10%)
Provide consultative support leveraging forwarding knowledge
Lead strategic initiatives in coordination with global teams
QUALIFICATIONS
Business-level Japanese and English proficiency
Proven experience in sales (existing and new clients)
Knowledge of forwarding operations
Leadership and labor management experience
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Experience handling major Japanese accounts
Degree in logistics, supply chain management, or related field
Familiarity with systems like CargoWise
Multilingual communication skills
