POSITION TITLE Market Development Lead
POSITION SUMMARY
This position supports the evaluation and development of market opportunities in the U.S. for Japan‑developed products. The role focuses on assessing market potential for emerging brands as well as exploring new growth initiatives for existing brands. It also provides bilingual communication, analytical support, and operational assistance related to U.S. market development activities, working closely with both U.S. teams and Japan headquarters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Market Evaluation & Development
Assess U.S. market potential for Japan-developed products
Conduct market research, competitive analysis, and consumer insights
Analyze category trends, pricing, positioning, and channel dynamics
Synthesize insights and provide strategic recommendations to leadership
Commercialization & Go‑to‑Market Support
Support GTM planning, pilot launches, and market testing
Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (Sales, Marketing, SCM)
Gather market feedback and performance data
Help refine positioning, messaging, and launch strategies
Headquarters Coordination
Prepare bilingual market analyses and documentation
Support follow‑ups, alignment, and communication between U.S. teams and Japan HQ
Provide execution updates to enable cross‑border decision‑making
Operational Support
Support daily operational tasks related to market development
Adhere to company policies, confidentiality, and ethical standards
Drive continuous improvement in work processes
Perform additional projects as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Business-level proficiency in both Japanese and English
Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field
7+ years of experience in market development, marketing, product marketing, or related roles
Strong analytical and logical thinking skills with the ability to proactively drive problem-solving initiatives
High proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel)
Ability to support senior leadership through structured analysis and execution support
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both Japanese and English
Ability to work effectively in cross-functional environments and across multiple time zones
Strong understanding of business models that deliver high impact on revenue and profit goals
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Experience supporting new product launches or market entry initiatives
Understanding of U.S. consumer goods markets and distribution channels
Experience collaborating with Japan-based teams or working on cross-border projects
