POSITION TITLE Business Development Specialist
POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Development Specialist (Bilingual) is responsible for driving sales and revenue growth by developing new business and maintaining relationships with existing clients.
This role works closely with Project Managers and project specialists to support activities such as cost estimating, planning, and project preparation. In addition, the position provides ongoing support to project teams throughout the project lifecycle to help ensure successful execution.
The Specialist is expected to coordinate with a wide range of stakeholders, including Japanese-speaking clients, owners, suppliers, subcontractors, licensors, and other relevant parties, to promote projects and support smooth transition from sales to project operations while maintaining quality and timeliness.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Relationship & Business Development
- Develop new business opportunities through regular contact and visits with existing and prospective clients
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and other partners
- Represent company values and contribute to meeting or exceeding client expectations
Preconstruction Support
- Review project drawings and specifications in coordination with the project team
- Assist in estimating project costs and required labor hours
- Support preconstruction planning related to project budgets and schedules
Project Start-Up & Scheduling
- Understand contract requirements and general conditions of projects
- Support accurate scheduling of materials and subcontracted work in compliance with contract documents
- Confirm that materials and subcontracted work meet customer expectations
- Participate in site visits and inspections to monitor subcontractor and vendor work quality
Project Administration & Close-Out
- Communicate with subcontractors and relevant parties to manage expectations and project coordination
- Attend regular project progress meetings and understand short-term work plans
- Support project close-out activities and assist with final handover to customers
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Construction Management or a related field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in an industrial or construction-related environment
Fluency in both English and Japanese is required
- General understanding of construction contracts and terminology
- Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management skills
- Ability to support project cost estimation, including labor, materials, and equipment
- Proven problem-solving skills and ability to adjust schedules under tight deadlines
- Ability to coordinate people, equipment, and multiple activities simultaneously
- Working knowledge of OSHA safety standards
- Strong commitment to quality and continuous improvement of project-related processes
- Proficient in PC usage and standard business tools, including email, internet, and Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to prepare and review daily logs, monthly reports, and other project documentation
LOCATION Indianapolis, Indiana (Onsite Work)
SALARY USD 80,000-90,000 + benefits
OTHERS
- Use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with site requirements and company safety policies
- Willingness to work extended hours, weekends, and occasional holidays based on project and client needs
- Ability to travel to project sites, with travel potentially accounting for up to approximately 50% of working time
