POSITION SUMMARY
A Japanese food trading corporation is looking for a Sr. Food Specialist to join their team. This role involves providing essential documents, developing HACCP plans, verifying compliance, investigating non-conformities, preparing for audits, conducting internal audits, researching import regulations, and managing facility audits to ensure food safety and quality standards.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Provides various documents to customers upon request, including spec sheets, raw material specifications, audit certificates, and letters of guarantee.
* Develops and maintains HACCP food safety plans and prerequisite programs such as sanitation, GMPs, food defense, recall, allergen, and supplier verification.
* Verifies imported product labeling and ingredients to ensure compliance with US regulations.
* Investigates non-conformities, identifies root causes, and implements corrective actions to prevent defects.
* Ensures all required documents are prepared for audits, HACCP verifications, and equipment calibrations.
* Conducts monthly internal audits to identify and address quality discrepancies, working closely with warehouse management.
* Researches import regulations and required documents for products under USDA/APHIS/FSIS jurisdiction.
* Assists in facility food safety internal audits and manages third-party audits, ensuring compliance and corrective actions are implemented.
QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor’s Degree required; Bachelor’s Degree in Food Science or relevant studies strongly preferred
* 3+ years of food safety or other relevant experience preferred
* Knowledge of food safety procedures
* Demonstrates basic Microsoft Office proficiency
* Business level English required
* Business level Japanese preferred
* Demonstrates strong organizational skills and attention to detail
* Possesses basic mathematical knowledge such as markups, discounts, counting inventory, weight and measurement conversions, combining, etc.
* Has strong communications and interpersonal skills
BASE SALARY USD56,000-80,000 (DOE)
