POSITION SUMMARY
This position is responsible for establishing a risk management framework at the U.S. office.
The role primarily involves identifying, assessing, and managing investment risks, while also overseeing operational risks related to business operations. You will be engaged in middle and back-office functions, mainly focused on bond portfolios, contributing to the growth of the business.
Collaboration with the investment team, executive management, and the overseas headquarters is essential to promote risk management aligned with global standards.
This is a critical role that requires coordination across multiple areas, including compliance, audit, and regulatory matters.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Middle and Back Office Operations
Handle all back-office functions including trade processing, settlement, reconciliation, reporting, and corporate actions
Manage daily operations of investment trusts and funds
Maintain relationships with custodians, counterparties, and service providers to ensure accurate and timely transaction processing
Respond to audits and conduct compliance checks
Analyze investment performance and prepare reports
Maintain and update operational data for investment trusts and funds
Support the launch of new funds and portfolios
Risk Management
Develop and implement risk management policies and procedures
Identify, assess, monitor, and report investment risks
Ensure alignment with the parent company’s risk management policies
Prepare and submit risk assessment reports to senior management
Propose and implement risk mitigation strategies
Communication
Coordinate and report to the President and the parent company in Japan
Share information with internal staff including the Chief Compliance Officer
Liaise with external partners, auditors, and regulatory authorities
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree or higher in finance, accounting, economics, business, or a related field
Minimum 2 years of experience in middle/back office operations in asset management, banking, or brokerage
Minimum 1 year of experience in risk management (preferred)
Proficiency in data management tools such as Excel, VBA, and SQL
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and presentation skills
Fluency in both Japanese and English is preferred
High ethical standards, strong compliance awareness, and a proactive, team-oriented mindset
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
CFA, FRM, or other relevant certifications
LOCATION New York, NY (Hybrid work)
SALARY USD 80,000-120,000 (commensurate with experience and skills)
