Our client is currently seeking a qualified candidate to fill the role of Accounting Manager and lead the Accounting Department at their New York office.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Overseeing the company’s system of accounts, books, and records, including general accounting, cost accounting, accounts payable, and accounts receivable.
- Managing day-to-day accounting functions, including tax compliance, cash management, and finance reporting.
- Preparing required tax-related forms and reports, such as sales and use tax, commercial rent tax, etc.
- Ensuring accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, and year-end close. Coordinating year-end audit reviews for internal and external auditors.
- Managing periodical reporting to HQ upon closing.
- Posting journal entries, A/P, A/R, WIP, merchandise, and adjustments.
- Performing cash management functions.
- Supporting budget and forecasting activities.
- Supervising staff and contributing to employment decisions.
- Maintaining and streamlining business processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing necessary actions.
- Participating in team, company, or other meetings, as well as occasional training and webinars.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to deliver quality work, manage tasks effectively, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Experience in a multicultural environment with sensitivity to intercultural issues.
- Familiarity with SAP preferred, with a readiness to learn new systems and support SAP migration.
- Capacity to maintain confidentiality of financial data.
- Proficient in English and Japanese (written and verbal) for internal and external communications.
- Understanding of financial reporting, fixed asset modules, and general ledger structure.
- Thorough knowledge of GAAP.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel or similar software.
- Excellent organizational and attention-to-detail skills.
- Teamwork and collaboration motivation across functions.
- Supervisory skills with management experience.
- CPA and knowledge of Japanese accounting principles considered advantageous.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance, or equivalent education and experience.
- Minimum of 5 years' general accounting experience, including 2 years as an accounting department manager.
SALARY
