POSITION SUMMARY
A Japanese IT solutions company is seeking a Senior Accountant to support its Accounting Department in New York or Irving, Texas.
This is a senior individual contributor role responsible for independently managing key accounting activities, including financial close, reporting, reconciliations, treasury, tax compliance, and internal controls. The role also provides opportunities to support team members through operational guidance, cross-training, and knowledge sharing.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Independently manage day-to-day corporate accounting operations
Perform month-end and year-end financial close activities
Maintain and reconcile General Ledger accounts
Manage Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable processes
Process and support payroll and employee benefits accounting
Manage cash flow and treasury-related activities
Support tax compliance, statutory reporting, and internal and external audits
Prepare management reports and reporting for Japan-based stakeholders
Strengthen internal controls and support risk mitigation
Identify and implement process improvements to improve operational efficiency
Provide operational guidance and knowledge sharing to accounting team members
QUALIFICATIONS
3-5 years of progressive accounting experience
Hands-on experience with month-end close, account reconciliations, and financial reporting
Strong knowledge of accounting principles and internal controls
Experience with SAP or other major ERP/accounting systems
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
Professional judgment, accuracy, and attention to detail
Strong ownership, accountability, and follow-through
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
Effective communication and collaboration skills
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
Associate degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
CPA certification or progress toward CPA certification
Experience supporting Japan-based management or overseas stakeholders
Experience with process improvement and operational optimization
Ability to provide guidance or training to junior team members
LANGUAGES
Business-level English required
Business-level Japanese required for communication with Japan-based stakeholders

SALARY
New York: USD 80,000-90,000
Irving, TX: USD 65,000-75,000
Starting compensation will be determined based on qualifications, experience, education, and skill level.
